ABOUT THE BOOKS
The History of California book series tells the untold story of California's beginnings. Historical fiction on a grand scale, these books comprise the most complete account ever told of the colonization of California. This gripping origin story pulls from extensive research into long forgotten archives and is experienced through the fascinating characters brought to life by Rick Walker.
Book 1: Calafia
This tale of triumph and conquest begins with Calafia, transporting readers into the life-and-death clash of cultures that occurred during the Spanish colonization of Alta California.
Seen through the eyes of a young transcriber named Sergio Monino, this first-person narrative recounts the political, religious and emotional saga of the Spanish people who sought to claim this legendary land as their own.
Book 2: California
California continues the adventure, venturing into the upheaval, treason, and murder of the so-called “Sacred Expedition” that turned a small, indigenous tribal nation into the grand state of California.
Follow the grueling journey into the unsettled land and witness the bloody battles that pitted the earliest Spanish settlers against the honorable indigenous people they came to displace.
At times tragic and funny, insightful and honest, humane and thrilling, California history has never come so alive then on the pages of Rick Walker’s Calafia and California.
Available in both softcover and Kindle.
